Day Twenty – kenning

IMG_1977So this challenge was to write a kenning poem. I hadn’t read all the way down the page to see that a cat was an example, but anyway… Last year we adopted a beautiful ginger cat called Lily from the Destitute Animal Shelter – sounds so Victorian doesn’t it?

Beautiful she may be, and occasionally she will tolerate a cuddle, but her alternative name is the Ginger Witch because she is just so naughty! She eats for England and will stop at nothing to get at her food or ours, even climbing onto the fridge freezer and chewing her way through cardboard packaging and foil to get to the dogs’ food. Her latest baffling choice was sultana and cherry scones – I discovered a half-eaten on on top of the bread bin, hence pic!

She came strolling in, looking for food, while I was trying to think of what to write so she was a natural choice. I have taken some liberties with the form.
