Day Twelve: prose – excess = poetry

Day Twelve and the prompt is to write something in great detail and then removing anything that doesn’t need to be there, to create a poem. I have removed quite a bit of what was left, as it ended up like a simple list/recipe!
I made one of these yesterday so it was fresh in my mind.

Tagine
First, fragrant chermoula,
heady with honeyed spice.
Golden squash and sultanas
soften gently,
sink into saffron haze.
Lava-like, bubbles rise and burst,
Release the faintest
scent of rose.
